Adonis Stylianou is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist registered with the Cyprus Registration Board of Psychologists (ΣΕΨ), specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of human psychopathology. He is strongly committed to ethical practice and professional development, aiming to provide services that foster safety, resilience development and improvement of the well-being.

While pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Frederick University Cyprus, Adonis was among the few students who sought early involvement in the actual applications of psychology, collaborating with the Mentor Guidance Program providing support to children from deficit and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Following the completion of his Degree, Adonis was the first graduate in his field who completed an internship abroad, at the Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center KE.TH.E.A. Anadysi in Greece. During his internship he worked closely with young individuals suffering from drug, internet, alcohol and gambling addiction, alongside providing group counseling for parents of young addicts as a co-therapist.

Continuing his academic journey, Adonis attained his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the European University Cyprus, gaining extensive knowledge in the evaluation of mental disorders and interventions. During his practice, Adonis collaborated with the Humanitarian movement of Red Cross providing one- to-one emotional support and psychological services to people in need and populations facing day-to-day difficulties. In addition, he collaborated with the Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder Association of Cyprus, where he has worked to raise awareness about ADHD, developed educational resources and provided support to families and individuals affected by the disorder. His involvement allowed him to collaborate with other established and renown professionals in the field of psychology and psychiatry, to improve treatment strategies and advocacy efforts.

Following, Adonis chose to conduct the biggest part of his supervised practice at the Athalassa Psychiatric Hospital, in the department of Chronic patients and the department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation, where he gained invaluable experience on more complex and challenging cases demanding a higher output of clinical work and skillset.

In the realm of academic contributions, Adonis has presented at esteemed conferences, shedding light on Psychological Resilience in modern societies and the interpretation of Mythology in psychoanalytic applications. His academic work explores the psychodynamic interpretation of ADHD Symptoms and how the Attachment styles influence our tendency to forgive (or not) as a means of maintaining sense of control. Beyond academia and clinical work, Adonis actively pursues continuous professional development through workshops and seminars. His area of focus includes internet addiction, psychological resilience, the effects of social media overuse, sports psychology, geriatric psychology and the unconscious mind.
